The smaller blood vessels through which the blood passes produce a resistance to blood flow. This circulation is essential for nutrition of the major organs, such as the heart, kidneys, liver and brain, providing the vital oxygen and nutrients necessary for life. Continued research is important in this area. Since the cause is not known, treatment is based on keeping the blood pressure normal. A number of factors combine to raise the blood pressure, of which heredity is most important - high blood pressure tends to run in families. Contrary to popular myth, high blood pressure is not a disease of the nervous/ highly-strung, or caused by a stressful lifestyle. If your blood pressure is high your doctor may arrange several measurements as the stress of seeing a doctor may initially cause blood pressure to rise! In a very few people there is a specific cause for high blood pressure, and removal of the cause can produce a 'cure'. Your doctor will know when to look out for indications of these rare conditions.Resource Box -

High Blood Pressure

Waterfalls in the Smokies

Waterfalls of the Smokies

Waterfalls adorn most every stream in the Smokies. Only one waterfall,
Meigs Falls, is visible from the road. It is 12.9 miles west of the
Sugarlands Visitor Center, near the Townsend Wye. All others require
hiking, and range from easy to strenuous. Below is a listing of the
Smokies' best known falls:

Laurel Falls is the easiest waterfall hike on the Tennessee side of the
park. It is 2.5 miles roundtrip, and follows a paved trail. The trail
cuts through the middle of a series of cascades. Laurel Falls is 60 feet
high.

Grotto Falls is off the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. It is 2.4 miles
roundtrip through a hemlock- dominated forest. Grotto Falls is
distinctive as the only waterfall in the park one can walk behind.

Chasteen Creek Falls is a 4-mile roundtrip hike out of the Smokemont
Campground. A small, but graceful fall, this area makes for a good
moderate hike.

more info
Smoky Mountain Cabin Rentals / Dog Training / Dog Grooming / Dog Health / Auto Loans / Car Finance / Personal Bankruptcy / Stress Relief Blood Pressure /Secured Credit Cards / Bankruptcy / Adoption in Northern Ireland /Foreign Adoption / International Adoption /International Adoption USA /Adoption in the USA /Breast CancerInformation /Model Trains/ Children's Services in the USA
